Dreams

I dreamt I was traveling across the country, and I arrived at night to a warehouse hotel in the southern Utah deserts. Technically we were supposed to stay in the warehouse till the tour left in the morning, but I poked my head out of one of the heavy steel doors and came across a wonderous sight. Spread out across the rock canyons and undulating sandstone hills were giant kitschy sculptures of animals. Some were lit up in neon like Vegas -- a 50-foot pink rabbit, an armadillo. Others, like the 30-foot friendly green beetle, were constructed of scrap metal and I could just make out their forms in the moonlight. I walked down the desert highway, admiring the many looming animals in this pop wonderland. Magnificent, I kept thinking to myself, magnificent.
